ICS Helps X-Rite Speed to Market with Innovative Color Managment ProductColor-Management Solution

Experts in blending the art and science of color, X-Rite provides complete end-to-end color management solutions. As a world leader in color management and communication technology, X-Rite's solutions are used in professions where color is mission-critical, including printing, packaging and automotive.

Challenge

The company was designing an artistic user interface (UI) for a calibration tool that ensures laptop and desktop monitors display proper color values and maintain color accuracy from monitor to printer. Problem was, they faced a looming deadline with a large UI backlog. They turned to Integrated Computer Solutions (ICS) for rapid assistance.

Solution

The wizard-driven software program for this color-engine technology was built on Qt. ICS’ Qt experts helped the customer re-purpose an old code base for a new engagement, and clean and refine UI features to bring the interface to a level expected by pros in the visual design and photographic markets. ICS also quickly resolved existing bugs.

Thanks to experience with Qt Designer, ICS quickly restructured major UI layouts by directly editing the XML code. ICS also added an important new feature, a color grid that takes a measure from the color-calibration tool and "enrings" it with offset values that can be adjusted with a lightness slider and CMYK values. That’s techspeak for more accurate color.

Result

ICS resolved the customer’s feature and bug backlog weeks earlier than anticipated. Besides crushing the deadline, early completion also meant ICS was available to assist the customer on another project. The result was a very happy customer.
