Company’s Automotive Expertise and Alexa Integration to Support AGL-Based OEMs
WALTHAM, MA and TOKYO, JAPAN — June 20, 2018 — Integrated Computer Solutions (ICS), creators of sophisticated embedded and touch-enabled devices, today announced from the Automotive Linux Summit in Tokyo that the company has become a member of The Linux Foundation’s Automotive Grade Linux (AGL).
AGL is a collaborative open source project that aims to accelerate the development and adoption of a fully open software stack for the connected car. Leveraging the power and strength of Linux at its core, AGL is uniting automakers and technology companies to develop an open platform that offers OEMs complete control of the user experience so the industry can rapidly innovate where it counts. The AGL platform is available to all, and anyone can participate in its development.
“ICS is thrilled to be part of this dynamic group of specialists at the forefront of creating the future of the connected car,” said Peter Winston, founder and CEO of ICS. “We are eager to leverage our HMI and voice solutions expertise, including the Alexa integration, as the AGL team looks to continuously develop the latest embedded technologies and connectivity capabilities for automobiles.”
This announcement follows ICS’ recent news of its collaboration with The Qt Company (Nasdaq: QTCOM) to integrate Amazon Alexa into Qt. ICS is showing this integration at Automotive Linux Summit (ALS) running on ICS’ In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) Media Manager and Cockpit Control System at Booth #S10. The integration demonstrates the ability for consumers to interact with their cars in the same manner they have become accustomed to with Amazon Alexa in their homes. This provides the potential for a revolutionary breakthrough in the use of voice in automotive and the creation of a safer driving environment for all.
“We are delighted to welcome ICS to The Linux Foundation and Automotive Grade Linux,” said Dan Cauchy, Executive Director of Automotive Grade Linux. “We look forward to collaborating with ICS as we enhance our infotainment platform and build out functionalities like speech recognition, vehicle-to-cloud connectivity and virtualization.”
ICS is a proud participant and sponsor of the Automotive Linux Summit, which is taking place simultaneously and co-located with Open Source Summit Japan.
